We sat down with Jemma Sherman, Tooling Consultant at Mozaic, to hear all about her journey from university graduate to consultant, how her role has evolved over the years, and what continues to excite her about the future.
What first attracted you to Mozaic, and what were your initial impressions when you joined?
I joined Mozaic in 2019 as a University Graduate. During my interview, I met a few of the employees, and quickly realised the close knit culture that was at the heart of Mozaic. I was excited by the prospect of being a part of a fast growing and successful company, in the heart of the city.
How has your role developed since you started?
Having studied Geography at University, I left feeling as though I didn’t have a clear career path. I joined the back office team at Mozaic as a Business Assistant. Working as part of a small team at the time (3 members including myself), I was able to take on more and more responsibility, including the Finance administrative tasks. After three years, I was promoted to a Finance and Admin Manager role, where I gained a lot more experience and grew in confidence. I stayed in this position for another three years, and was then given the amazing opportunity to evolve my skill set and join the Tooling Practice as a Tooling Consultant in February 2025.
What opportunities or support have helped you grow and progress?
Throughout my career at Mozaic, I have been supported by those around me, in particular by my Manager during my Finance and Admin roles, along with my current Manager as a Tooling Consultant. Being such a close knit company, you are seen and heard by all levels of seniority, and I have really appreciated all the guidance and career advice that I have received along the way. The knowledge and advice I received, along with additional support such as training courses, has allowed me to grow within each role and is a testament to Mozaic and those who have built it.
What led you to specialise in the tooling practice, and what do you find most rewarding about your work?
I was given the opportunity to train in a new area of the business which was a really exciting offer, and one I embraced with open arms. Having worked behind the scenes on the admin side of projects, it was a great way to experience Mozaic’s offering from another angle. Being quite shy when I joined 7 years ago, I now really enjoy the Client facing side, building relationships and gaining exposure to different customers, as well as developing a more technical skillset.
What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Mozaic?
For anyone joining Mozaic, I would recommend enthusiasm and a willingness to constantly evolve and bring ideas to the table. Collaborating with colleagues is a huge part of being a team here, being able to support others whilst being supported yourself.
Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future – for both you and Mozaic?
Mozaic has been an ever evolving company since I joined, and as it continues to grow, it brings lots of exciting new opportunities for everyone including myself, to work with new clients and support their tooling journeys. The AI topic is becoming really prominent within the work that I am doing, and I am looking forward to seeing how this takes shape. We have some fantastic partnerships, and being able to work directly with individuals at companies such as Halo and ServiceNow, who are driving the tooling industry forward, is really exciting to be involved in and a really rewarding experience. Having been here from an early point in Mozaic’s life, I feel very proud to be a part of the company as it continues to excel.
